- Bulwagga user must be careful about when dropping the anchor (especially in windless weather) not to drop a bunch of chain too fast on the anchor. The chain must not cluster on the anchor. Otherwise the chain may coil up around one of the flukes of the anchor and prevent the anchor to function. The chain must always be laid down leeward in line. Also be ware in windless weather with short slack of chain, the boat may wander around the anchor causing the chain to coil up around the fluke.
- Always check your leeward to consider the risks or running aground or hitting to rocks when
anchoring.
- Always consider the bottom slope. Remember that increasing slope to leeward increases the risk
for secure holding.
- You must leave a slack (the released chain and rope quantity) of 5 times the depth plus the bow
height of your boat, to get secured in 5 beaufort wind speed and as the wind speed increases the
slack size increases too (6 times the total vertical distance to bottom for 6 beaufort, and 7 for 7
beaufort and so on).
- Avoid anchoring in rocky bottoms. Remember Bulwagga would perfom much better than any
other anchor in weed and in hard mud.
The best place for your Bulwagga is the main chain-anchor channel on the bow of your boat, since we recommend to use it as your main primary anchor. However you might need a second Bulwagga as spare, to use it in extraordinary, heavy conditions.

In case your Bulwagga Anchor is stucked in a such a way that you are unable to pull it back - which
is actually a very rare case which never happened to any of our customers so far, thanks to
Bulwagga's steel plate and it's welding structure offering some yawning to ease its release - the way
to rescue your anchor is very easy: just leave some chain slack and pull it from the opposite side.
Thanks to its unique "free forth and back moving shaft" feature, the Bulwagga Anchor is always easy
to get rescued from its stucked position.
Steel plate-welding structure prone to yawning in extreme conditions is always stronger than cast
metal.According to your bow roll and the distance to your windlass, we can provide custom shaft
lenght and diameter.
